Structure | Part II

Yes! Hello people! As I promised this is part II of the photos that I submitted for the photography exam. Just to take my time to wish Happy Malaysia Day to all Malaysians back in the country. I have heard that they had a really good day back there and I'm actually looking at the photos now as well. So, this post will be photos of structure from my secondary school; Brislington Enterprise College (ignore the name. it's just a secondary school). A little information about the building is that it was refurbished back in 2008 and now it has been one of the beautiful modern architecture in Bristol. Hope you enjoy the pictures! :)

Location: Brislngton Enterprise College

In conclusion, in my point of view I picked this title "structure" for my exam because I thought it would be the easiest point for me to take pictures. However, eventhough I do find this a very easy thing to do but I always wanted to change a bit of my technique and how I want my picture to be differently. For me I find that in architecture photography that it's not the photographer that tells the picture but it's the architecture speaks about itself. You know like the abstract of it, what's it that's telling you, is the design intense, what's useful about repetition of pattern, etc. I'm not an expert in architecture but as an amateur photographer you do need to understand the fundamentals of architecture design. Composition of a picture always makes a difference (i.e. Rule of Thirds). In this one, I used POV (Point.Of.View) and more of looking for perspective. Lighting? I used natural lighting of course. I am never much a fan of using on-camera flash and more of a fan of using off-camera flash because you could manipulate the direction of lighting. Other than that, I tend to look for references just to find some inspiration before I shoot. I usually look for inspirations from Flickr or Flickriver or just Google for instance. Just to get the whole idea of it really. Finally, structure was an amazing and interesting title to study about and still as an amateur photographer I'm still learning more new things about photography. For now I'm going to think about some interesting topic to write in my next post. Laters! :)
